WWW, hornady 55gr. The groups were ok but placement very erratic. Im starting to think scope mounts.
I'm no expert but i was shooting off sand bags, seated. And i know i can shoot dime size groups at 100 yds with my 17 so i dont think it was all me.

DPMS rifles are for the most part decent shooters and capable of at least 1 1/2 MOA if not better with factory ammo, If your group is moving around its prolly not the rifle. Is it a pretty tight fit between the upper and lower? I cant tell in the pic which stock your running but some of the collapsable stocks make for a tough cheekweld especially if your scope rings are not high enough which sometimes lead to an inconsistant cheekweld, Can you post a close up pic of your rig? Not that we can tell by looking but it may help.
I would double check my rings and make sure your not getting any movement.

I agree with www and if you didn't set themounts and scope yourself , go back and do it. Never trust someone else to get your scope right!!!

So it's a used rifle? Have you really scrubbed the bore well to remove any copper deposits? Is there a flash hider or is your barrel crown exposed? What is the twist of the bore? What kind of mounts? One or two piece? Is there a riser rail? Did someone else mount the scope? Are you sure the rings were lapped? What brand of scope & power? Lots of variables.

Thanks for all the help fellas but it's gone. I was on the fence about the AR anyway and after shooting 1 again it reaffirmed my past experiences with these rifles.
Not trying to start a conflict. Some folks love these weapons and have great luck with them but im not 1. I'm going back to a bolt rifle, maybe in 223. I like the round

Sorry you gave up. I didn't think I would like an AR. I shot my neighbor's and I was like "Ehhh."

But unfortunately I found an upper for a real good price so into the black hole of black guns I went.

After I shot this group on load workup I was hooked.

DPMS 20" bull barrel on a DPMS lower.

I wish I could say I do that all the time, however I have shot several sub .25 groups with this thing and .50 moa is about average.

Now if I could only find a coyote, but that's a totally different can o' worms.

The recipe is right there on the page, I believe I used Fed 205 primers, 52 gr. Sierra MK or 52 Hornady BTHP and the COL was just under mag max at 2.250. Velocity is in the 2700 - 2800 FPS range (my chrono may be a little on the slow side, JFYI).

"[I]f circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights and those of their fellow citizens."
