Today my son and I went out looking for Mr. Coyote. This was the first time he and I have ever tried this type of hunting. We got to our stand just about 15-20 min before the sun was up. The temp was about 43 degrees. We saw about 8-10 deer shaking their tails and thumbing their noses at us, knowing we couldn't do anything about it. By the time we got "settled," the sun was up. The only call I have is a Knight & Hale cottontail rabbit distress call. I started calling, wondering if I was doing it right. About 15 min later, there came 'ol Mr. Coyote! It was all I could do NOT to take the shot, but I really wanted my son to take our first coyote. My son took the shot, but he didn't connect. After a few more follow-up shots (spray and pray) Mr. coyote got away and lived to see another day.

We took a second stand and called and called, but nothing that time. But all in all, we had a GREAT time! At least I have a little more confidence that I can call in a 'yote.

Safe Hunting,

FTR

Great story. Letting your son take the first shot will be an unforgettable hunt for both of you. I'm really glad you both got to see something. Very Happy

Way to go foxthatrox. It's great and a confidence builder just to call one in. Kudos to you for giving your son the honors.
