I spent time today getting my new Remington R-15 sighted in. My Savage
.204 Ruger likes the 40 grain Hornady V-Max so I was hoping he R-15
would too. No such luck. The R-15 just doesn't like the 40s at all. But, it
loves those 32 grain V-Max loads. Check out the .70 inch 3 shot group
at 200 yards. Smile

After getting the sighting in done I had some fun dinging a 12 inch
gong at 300 yards.

The rifle will do its part if I'll do mine.

Holy coyote! Awesome shooting. I have been wondering about the Remington R-15's, now I have my answer!

I first tried the 40 grain V-Max that my Savage likes so well. At 200 yards, the R-15 was shooting 4 or 5 inch groups with that. Not good. Then I tried the 32 grain V-Max ammo I had left over from sighting in the Savage last year. I started shooting sub MOA groups right off the bat. That's with the stock trigger (a 7 pound, creepy, scratchy, thing in mine). I'm putting a 3 pound Timney trigger in next weekend.

I'm a big fan of the Giessele's.

Nice shooting! A 32 grain bullet is really light! Heck some airguns shoot 32 grain pellets. It is REALLY light compared to the 300 grain Hornady sabots I shoot out of my muzzleloader. Razz

Light is right! I was hoping the 40 grainers would work. But I can't argue with the accuracy and consistency. The biggest advantage for that little bullet is speed. 4,225 at the muzzle per Hornady. I've shot jugs of water with that thing and "explosive" is an understatement. I'm hoping the little bullet works fine on 'yotes. I haven't read about any serious issues. Obviously, bullet placement is critical.
