finally the first for 2012. dropped her around 350 yrds. Not gonna say how many rounds sent her way on the run
Unfortunately not called in. bumped her as we walked in. had another jump out of a fence row as I was shooting.
Made up for the miss a couple weeks ago.

Thats ok, I bumped 3 a few weeks back. Don't think for a second that I wouldn't have put a few down if I had the chance. Besides, it would be hard to convince THAT coyote that "it don't count".
What kind of can do you have and do you use it on anything else? I'm ordering an AAC Cyclone this week. Of course it will be a while before I can use it. Gonna use it on my AR, .260, and build me a Savage in .300 Blackout. Good shooting by the way.

It's a Yankee Hill 7.62 with the quick connect so I use it on all my AR's up to the .308. Thanks for the congrats. That was the second time to bump one off this pond. I was ready this time. I love that rifle. Building a light weight 223 right now this one can be a little heavy on long hikes.

They can get heavy if you let them. I cut a lot of weight off of that one. The barrel is a Krieger stainless bull. Started out at 20" I cut it down to 16" and threaded it. It is a lot lighter than my buddy's 20". I am in the process of building one with a composite lower. The lower is a little over a pound lighter then the Spikes in the picture and it still has the six position stock. Once I put a skeleton on, it should be even lighter. Match it with a small pencil barrel and upper and i should have a very light one. The suppressor adds more weight. Got to get me one of the titanium ones!

Is it legal to hunt with a suppressor in tenn.? I've always assumed it was not but I took a quick look at the regs and couldn't find anything about them. I know you have to get a permit to own one from ATF or something like that. Maybe howler can chime in on this. If they are legal I'm going to look in to one.

My biggest reason is when you shoot every coyote for a mile around doesn't hear it.

I've never heard that they will improve accuracy. Will sometimes change your poi . The biggest thing is not having your ears ringing after the shot.

yes, they are legal for hunting provided you have the correct documentation from ATF. Now, is the warden going to check that documentation, probably not, unless he has caught you violating the game laws. Then, he is probably going to drag out his "fine tooth" comb. In that case, you better have documentation or he is probably going to seize your weapon and turn it over to ATF because it would be an illegal weapon. Hope this helps.

Good shooting!
In most cases a Suppressor will enhance accuracy and in most cases it is a can that screws directly to the Barrel without the QD. My cans attatch using the QD method but still enhance the accuracy of most rifles I've tried them on.
You can just about always expect a POI change, As long as its repeatable its no big deal.

They do add weight... one downside. Accuracy is helped most of the time but only a little. The POI changes on smaller barrels but in my case both the hunting rifles have bull barrels two of which are almost an inch of stainless and they are short so there is little change. Recoil is less and it is very cool to hear your round make that thud when it hits them. The most benefit I have seen in hunting situations on deer and coyotes is with doubles. When you shoot at something, the sound is very different. It doesn't sound like it comes from you. The sonic crack is away from you so they can't tell which way to run. I have had the second coyote run straight at me after the first one drops.
As far as the permit, it is actually just a tax stamp and I keep a copy in the pistol grip or stock of all the rifles that i put it on just in case I ever have to show it's legal.

How do they improve accuracy?? By keeping the pressure more consistent??

Taken from a story by Mark White of Sound Tech published in the Small Arms Review Vol. 1 No 7-9 /1998.
A properly designed blast baffle will strip and deflect much of the bottle-shaped blast of high-pressure gas that envelops and pursues the departing bullet. For this reason, one can logically expect an increase in practical accuracy when a properly designed suppressor has been installed. Also, the weight of a heavy steel unit tied to both the center and end of a rifle barrel does beneficial things for harmonic barrel vibration - dampening out much of it. These two factors greatly increase the practical accuracy potential of a suppressed rifle.
